Putting' on the Glitz.

Do you love to get dressed up?
Getting dressed up can mean different things to different people. It all really comes down to your life STYLE. I am amazed really at how often the word style is used in our day to day life.
We use it in a multitude of ways to describe different things.
It is a discriptive word really and one we use often.
So what does that have to do with Puttin' on the Glitz. Well everything really.
No matter what or how you celebrate during the holiday season there usually are things to do and events that you want to attend, and of course we want to look our best and more importantly we want to feel our best. So in this months blog post I am sharing my five top tips for sailing through the holiday season with grace and style no matter how you celebrate.
Let's get into it!
- Timing is everything, You might wonder what I mean by this. If you have been with me for awhile you will have heard me say our most precious commodity is our time. How we spend it, who we share it with and what we do all effect our mindset which plays a direct influence on the choices we make. So this holiday season choose the events you are going to attend with thought and intention. Do not feel that you have to say yes to each and everyone, and that includes online events as well. Pick a number that you are comfortable with and stick with it. For some that is the number 3, three events and no more. So what ever your energy limit is pick a number and stick with it. This is not a time of year to allow yourself to be guilted into doing things.
- Plan ahead, Some events need more preparation than others especially if you are hosting one. Take stock of how much energy, time and money you have to invest in these festivities. Here is how I am choosing this year. I want to experience a Christmas parade with my grandson, which will be followed by either a home cooked meal or a meal out. I also want to have a romantic experience with my husband, that could mean a night time outdoor activity, a special tasting menu or a local horse and buggy ride. Each year the events may change and be different but planning ahead for them is key. I think this year I would also like to go to a performance of some type, seeing a really talented choir comes to mind.
3. The next thing I do with planning is deciding on what to wear and to be sure that I feel good in my chosen outfits. Example: I will dress very warm for any outdoor activities and most likly wear my red beret and red pashmina to keep it festive and camera ready. If it is an elegant dinner well I will take that oppourtunity to wear a new dress I purchased recently, I always love a good reason to dress up. It all really comes down to intention and what we want to experience at these events.
- Lists, lists, lists. Whether you celebrate with gifts or whatever traditions you have lists are your best friend and keep them on your phone for easy access when out and about.
- Be more concious of your water intake and drink more of it. We all indulge in different ways at this time of year no matter our religion or celebration style. The next thing I do with planning is deciding on what to wear and to be sure that I feel good in my chosen outfits. - Do you have any networking events to attend? Whether on or off line it is good to be prepared for this has well, tangible business cards or cut and paste cards are a must for these events.
- Allow yourself the luxury of a little more rest, especially us introverts can get really tired out at this time of year so be sure to add rest times into your calendar also. We all need our beauty sleep. I am a firm believer in getting enough rest and water. When we don't the first place it shows up is in our skin and eye area. You deserve to be well rested, nourshed and hydrated.
