Healing Your Money Mindset Now!

If you've experienced trauma in your life, it can have a major effect on your money mindset. Many women carry trauma from their past into their present, which can lead to feelings of insecurity and anxiety around money. If you're struggling to manage your finances and feel like you're never quite "good enough," it's important to understand how trauma may be affecting your relationship with money. In this blog post, we'll explore some of the ways that trauma can impact your money mindset, and offer tips for overcoming these challenges.
It's estimated that 60% of American adults have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lifetime. And while we often think of trauma as something that happens in a single, explosive moments—a car accident, a natural disaster, a violent attack—it can also be the result of long-term exposure to difficult circumstances, such as growing up in poverty or being the victim of emotional or physical abuse.
What you may be experiencing:
You may be more risk-averse. If you've experienced trauma, here is how it may show up in your life. You may be more reluctant to take risks, both in your personal life and in your finances. This can manifest itself in a number of ways, from being unwilling to invest in the stock market to avoiding new opportunities because you're afraid of failure.
You may be more impulsive. On the other hand, some people who have been through trauma become more impulsive spenders. This is often an attempt to numb the pain or fill the void left by the loss of a loved one or another traumatic event.
You may struggle to trust others. After experiencing betrayal or another form of betrayal, it can be difficult to trust others, including financial institutions like banks or investment firms. This can lead to keeping your money under your mattress instead of investing it or using other financial services.
You may have trouble budgeting. Many people who have been through trauma find it difficult to stick to a budget because they feel like they need to be prepared for anything that comes their way. This can lead to overspending or hoarding money instead of using it wisely. If you're struggling to budget, there are many helpful resources available online and from financial advisors who can assist you in creating a plan that meets your needs.
You may feel like you don't deserve financial security. One of the most common effects of trauma is feelings of guilt and shame. These feelings can make it hard to believe that you deserve financial security or abundance in your life. If this is something you're struggling with, know that you are not alone and there is help available so that you can start moving forward toward a brighter future.
But I am here to tell you there is hope and lot's of it! Let's dive in:
